THE BESTS TIPS FOR BUY A COMPUTER FOR FSX

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Today I will try to show to our readers the best TIPS of PCs, . I decided to write this because many people have questions about "Victor , what computer i have to buy". Any person use the PCs for different things and i can't give you the perfect configuration BUT i can give you a basic "rules" when you go to buy in a computer shop.

  1. HDD(Hard Drive Disk): We will want a HDD who have a minimum of 320Gb (about 70€ to 100€). I specially recommend to you buy a 500Gb. Today we can found 2Tb but for a normal user 2048Gb is too much.We have to be alert with the RPM (Revolutions Per Minute), If you found a HDD cheap with 7200RPM buy it :D. Want a serial SATAII
  2. Motherboard: You're very free here man :D , according if you want a AMD CPU or INTEL, but be aware INTEL has been released INTEL CORE I7 with a new socket 1366. It means that you can't use the older processors as DUO CORE QUAD CORE... who use LGA775 socket. Then we will decide about PCIe X16 expand randoms (for graphic cards). If we want a SLI dual or triple we have to buy a motherboard ready with NVIDIA nforce chip :). AH! and the expansion PCI randoms for add TV card, sound car... and HDMI support, RAM DDR3 ready ! andREMEMBER chip X58 or G45
    PERSONALLY RECOMMENDED ASUS 4EVER :D.
  3. CPU(Central Processement Unit): Very Simple, INTEL=powerfull and nice AMD= powerfull and cheap. I prefer Intel :). Intel have been released a new processor without BUS who process 2Gb/s if i'm right. Is called Intel core I7
  4. Graphic Card: We will want a NVIDIA(recommended) of the series 200 if you can . It will have 1Gb dedicated memory, HDMI and a good graphic processement rating (for this i recomended series 200). We can't forget it have to be PCI, we haven't to want AGP.
  5. RAM(Random Acces Memory): We will want a RAM DDR3, minimum 2Gb installed as 2 of 1Gb for enable dual channel. I recommend 4Gb for vista.
  6. Sound Car : Isn't mandatory but if you want a sound car ASUS XONAR
  7. Operative System: With windows 7 for launch in 2010, we have to buy a vista because we can use DX10 (directX10). If you install XP you can't use DX10 and you will continue with DX9.0C. And vista version? home premium ;)
  8. A ATX with 650-1000W power plant and ventilators inside. We have to want spendthrifts for cooling better.
  9. About monitor? TFT FULL HD 20-24", some HP are very good. We have to want a good contrast 10000:1 are OK
With this tips and a bit of help in the shop you can buy a "cool" PC for gaming :D.

The Easy and Simple way of understanding Standard Instrument Departure (SID)

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Most of newbies don't know much things about SIDs. Well, SIDs
(Standard Instrumental Departure) allow to ATCs and pilots an structured departure of the airports making more fluid the departures and avoiding airborne conflicts. With the help of Paul Gibson(the writer) we can explain today the "keys" for understand a SID:

To begin you will need the following charts, which can be obtained via this link: - http://www.nats-uk.ead-it.com/public/index.php%3Foption=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=41&Itemid=90.html

You will need to find aerodrome chart 2.1 and ALVIN 1B SIDs Chart 6.1.

Once you have these, load your flight simulator to a gate of your choice at EGFF Cardiff set weather to clear, ensure you fly the default Boeing 737 for this lesson.

A departure chart is a set route out from an airport of choice that enables the safe routing of traffic; this route will keep you clear of other traffic and terrain such as mountains!

It also helps ATC manage the flow of traffic away from the airport.

*ATC have given us our departure clearance which is ‘Runway 12’ and the ALVIN 1B departure, so from then on start your taxi.

*Once we have taxied into position on ‘Runway 12’ open your departures chart after take off we will fly heading 120 as indicated on the chart. Do you see 120 marked on the chart? That is our Heading.

*I-CDF is the Cardiff VOR which is on frequency 110.70 set this as NAV1 on your flight display, you will now see CDF 0.5 this is your distance to the VOR, also known as your DME (Distance Measuring Equipment).

*On the chart it says CDF 4.5 and 2600 what this means is at 4.5 miles from CDF we need to be above 2600 ft also as you can see at CDF 4.5 we begin a left turn to heading 002.

*Now set NAV1 to the BCN (BREACON) VOR which is 117.45.You should now see on the flight display BCN and your distance from the VOR.

At this point on the chart we can see BCN D19 and 3500 so when our DME is BCN D19 we need to be above 3500ft.

*Next we see 4500 so continue climbing to 4500ft, and then there is a right turn onto heading 060 this heading should be to the ALVIN waypoint.

Set your NAV1 to HON 113.65.

*Our next instruction is HON D65.2 6000 do you see it has a line ABOVE and BELOW it? This means at 65.2nm from the HON VOR we need to be level at 6000ft.

We continue to ALVIN.

*At ALVIN the departure route ends and our flight plan begins.

We highly recommend the use of a FMC (Flight Management Computer) as five letter waypoints e.g. ALVIN have no marker in flight simulator, the only way to find the ALVIN waypoint or any other five letter waypoint is by using an FMC.

An FMC can be obtained from this link free of charge: - http://vas-project.org/

Victor NOTE-->

(PERSONALLY RECOMENDED and TESTED BUT ONLY FOR FS9or lower don't works with FSX),

Victor Suau NOTE on Victor's Note: Tested on FS9, works perfectly ;)

Do not use this technique online i.e. Vatsim IVAO until you are competent and confident!

We hope this lesson has been informative and helpful to you as a new pilot and encourages you to keep on practising and enjoying your flights.

Keep checking back for more lessons on FS NAVIGATION.

SET UP your Windows for play BETTER!

Well, our first article will speak about "how to set up you windows" for better results in FS. I'm going to give you general tweaking advices:

ABOUT WINDOWS TWEAKS

We will start by cleaning our TEMP files (temporal files) and cleaning our windows registry (don't worry, it isn't dangerous. The program will delete broken entries). For this task we recommend to use CCleaner (click on link and then go to "download the latest version". When the program is installed: Open this-->click on "cleaner" (brush icon) and in the left-down corner "analize" option--> Close all browsers and click "execute cleaner"

  1. OK friends, we will continue cleaning the registry. In the same program go to "registry"(cube icon)--> "search problems" --> finished the search go to "repair selected" (when ask you for the registry security copy, make it if you want but isn't necessary) -->click repair all entries--> well, click on "close" and exit.
ABOUT SECURITY AND PERFORMANCE

Next steps are about malware. We highly recommend using SpyBot Search & Destroy. To download click in any mirror and download it.

  1. When the program is installed, open it and go to "search updates" and then "inmunize"( you have to close the browser again).
  2. Then on Search & Destroy click on "search problems". Finished, go to solve selected problems.
Spy Bot isn't enough. You have to have your antivirus updated and execute scans periodically.(We recommend minimum one per month and when you feel that something is not working properly).

*We recomend you to have defragmented you HDD (hard drive disk).
*You must have MINIMUM the SP1 for FSX and the 9.1 version for FS9.
In case of FSX you should have SP2.
* Don't forget to have the operative system UPDATED.
*Mantain your graphics drivers updated for the best results
LINKS

-NVIDIA(we recommend you to use the "option 2")
-ATI

All tweaks works with any Vista version 32 or 64 bits and any XP and Windows 7
